The Little Free Library is a community-driven neighborhood library where everyone’s invited to take or leave a book.
The Little Free Library was started by Todd H. Bol, who built the first one in 2009. Then he founded a nonprofit with the goal to inspire readers and strengthening the community by fostering Little Free Libraries around the world.
Anyone can start one!
The first Little Free Library in the Redlands area was built and installed in 2012: “It started in July of 2012 with a little glass-faced case on Fern Street, and now, with 19 Little Free Libraries stretching over Redlands and Mentone, you can choose your next read from every corner of town.” (Toni Momberger. tonimomberger.weebly.com/little-free-libraries-in-redlands.html)
